Microsoft wowed the tech-savvy audience, includig me, with its introduction of Surface for Windows RT and Surface for Windows 8 .Surface feels stylish, fresh, and exciting.
What Is Surface?
First of all, Surface RT runs on Nvidia’s ARM-based Tegra 3 platform and requires all-new apps that use the Windows 8 “Metro” interface;
the Pro version uses Intel’s Core i5 and runs conventional Windows programs (as well as Metro apps).
In taking the step to sell its own tablet hardware, Microsoft ensures that a flagship Windows 8 tablet will stand ready to compete against Apple’s iPad and the army of Google Android tablets, most of which have failed to find an audience.

DISPLAY
Surface has a striking look. The exterior magnesium alloy surface is silky smooth to the touch and finely finished; and the tablet feels solidly built . Microsoft is using optical bonding, which makes text clearer, minimizes glare, and improves contrast
As this was the first step in tablet PC world, Microsoft have proved that SURFACE is thin ,stylish and well manufactured Tablet. SURFACE for both windows RT and windows 8 is a 10.6 inch tablet having 16:9 aspect ratio. Both versions have distinct screen resolutions, as windows RT have 720p HD screen and windows 8 have 1080p full HD screen. But Microsoft’s HD display technology is common in both. Ultra-wide viewing angle and auto-adjusting screen intensity mechanism is followed by both. Future plan of Microsoft is to make 17 inch SURFACE for windows 8. Microsoft also claim users to distinguish the pixels on screen.
DESIGN
Surface design is very smooth and unique. The clear type screen, with keyboard attached magnetically and the kickstand hinge at the back which scroll down when you don’t want it. At the center of the top edge a camera is found. SURFACE RT have USB 2 port and a micro HDMIPortwith twin speakers and dual array microphone. While SURFACE PRO have USB 3 port and also a micro SD port with micro HDMI port. For the CPUs, the Surface with Windows RT will use ARM CPUs (residing in the Nvidia Tegra SoC). The Surface Pro, running Windows 8 Pro, will utilize an “Ivy Bridge” Core i5 dual core (4 threads) chip, which is comparable to chips in current Windows laptops.
HARDWARE
Microsoft have very finely looked after about both hardware and software. Microsoft will give two keyboard covers for Surface: Touch Cover and Type Cover. These both protective covers are connected to surface by magnetic strip. Tablet have touch-sensitive keyboard and tactile keyboard for better performance. Both also include a multitouch touch pad. Sprung keys on keyboard make touch experience more better. It is available in 5 colors with very elegant color quality.
AVAILABILITY
SURFACE RT will hit the market in end of October while SURFACE PRO will come after 3 months of the launch of SURFACE RT. These will initially be available in Microsoft Stores and online.
PRICE
Price is not yet declared but can be mentioned after its availability. It may be predict that price can be competitive with ARM tablet or Intel Ultrabook-class PC near by $599. These tablet can also enhance the level of non-iPad devices.
